Sculpture by Karen Heyl 1310 Pendleton St. Suite 101Cincinnati, OH email@example.com
A native of Cincinnati, Karen has been a stone sculptor for over 30 years. Her studio is located at the Pendleton Art Center in the Over-the-Rhine area in Cincinnati.
Bas-relief sculpture carved in limestone is the work for which she is best known.
Karen uses Old World bas-relief stone carving techniques and is known for the narrative nature of her works.
Limestone provides a sense of permanence, is durable and maintenance free, as can be seen in architecture throughout Ohio.

Organic life forms and the human figure are the subjects from which I gather my sculptural ideas.
I love direct stone carving because it is physically, as well as spiritually and emotionally challenging.
My work is sensitive in nature, simplistic in style and evolutionary in process.
My goal is to create sensual, tactile sculptures that pull the viewer in and invite touch.
